Impact of Stress in Nurse Anesthesiology Programs

stress

Katherine Meuti, DNP, MSN, CRNA, APRN, et. al. analyzed the impact of stress on weight change, physical activity, and coping mechanisms among residents during their time in nurse anesthesiology programs.  The study showed that most residents had increased weight and decreased physical activity while in the program as well as used unhealthy eating, alcohol, and tobacco as mechanisms to deal with stress. Authors recommend that nurse anesthesiology programs should emphasize health and wellness initiatives throughout the curriculum to support residents during the rigor of the program.  Read the study.
